The Groom

Who I am

ryan

My name is Ryan Lee Wallace. I was born in February 1986 in West Point, Mississsippi, where I have lived my entire life. I started homeschooling after completing K-7th in the public school system. I worked as a full-time cleanup guy (car detailing) before graduating in 2004. I attended one semester of online classes in 2005-06 at EMCC while working full-time at a local computer store in Columbus. While there I had the chance to work with some very dedicated and hard-working people, learn more about computers, and assist in customer support and one-on-one troubleshooting. Although I am no longer in that fast-paced environment, I still enjoy keeping up with the latest in technology and computers. I plan on attending Mississippi State University this fall (2009) where I will be pursuing a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I hope to couple my love of computers with this degree to develop a highly-marketable (and entertaining) skill set. One of my dreams is to one day own my own business in this field.

How We Met

I first met Ellen on the kickoff day for the homeschoolers in SCHE (Starkville Christian Home Educators) about 10 years ago. I could not get over how beautiful she was! Ellen had a glow about her (and still does!) that comes only from knowing Christ and being content in Him. She was also an optical knockout, to say the least! I was definitely keeping my eye on her.

Time passed and we did a few activities together, including a homeschool Spanish and Literature class together. As time progressed I could not get her off my mind. It became an every day thing. I prayed earnestly about this for over a year, asking the Lord how I should handle this. It’s funny how you talk to God when you’re in this deep. I asked God, that if it was His will that Ellen was not the one for me, that He would take any thoughts or feelings away I had for her. God never answered that way, and I will always be grateful to Him for it!

Hobbies

Exercising (mostly bodyweight), playing classical guitar, web and graphic design, planning for the future, listening to Christian and some rock music, and occasional online gaming. I also created and manage MaroonWorks and help manage Ellen’s website, Cooking with Ellen.

Thanks for sharing this! Wow! I think the fact that you prayed for a year shows real character. I am glad the Lord worked it out for you. He surely can work things out better than we ever could on our own!

Wow!!! You’re my dream guy Ryan…guess it’s to late for me uh (smile). What a wonderful story you have. I listen to Ellen often talk about the two of you. I’m so impressed that although you’re so young your moral values seem to be first in both of your lives. You are truly a postive role model. God will bless for consulting him in all that you do. Please never stop being the man that you are today.
